As healthcare continues to expand, all medical coders' skills and expertise will be in high demand for many years to come.
This program provides students with the skills necessary to operate successfully in a variety of medical environments. ICD-10-CM coding allows reporting of medical diagnoses. Coding the patient's medical diagnosis or reason for seeking treatment is the first step in reporting the provider's procedures. After obtaining the necessary training in coding procedures using ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, and obtaining the practical work experience (6 months to 2 years), learners who complete this program could be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) - Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice); the American Health Information Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam; and/or other National Certification Exams
